A compost bin is a good idea . most cities won’t pick up your clipping. I found myself loading grass clipping into my truck and taking them to local landfill many times. last spring i decided to make a bin 3 ft high by 4 ft long and 3 feet wide, out of 2 by 4 and 1 by 2 and lined it with chicken wire. i turn the clippings about once a week and it has worked out for me.. good luck

The small one should work for you. Worst case, you have to empty it more often.

add some shredded paper and if possible leave the lid off on sunny days for a while. good luck.

dump it out in yard and let the sun completely dry it out

Too much high nitrogen material will "spoil" and cause the sourness. Add some more carbon (browns) such as dead leaves, dry grass and weeds. Also, aerating the compost by turning it more often will help.

I have used one for years. I find that larger thicker pieces take ages to decompose but grass clippings etc work great. Follow instructions for tumbling etc. Also I suggest you look into a home worm farm forp roducing compost – they are great

My parents have one that sits on a stand about 4 feet off the ground with a crank handle on the side. They can get finished compost out of it in 2 weeks during the summer, and less as the temperature allows. They seem pretty happy with it.
